Dudley Harris is the Vice President of Special Projects at Bay Electric Co., Inc.
Dudley is passionate about renewable energy, entrepreneurship and workforce development through apprenticeships, internships and mentoring others to achieve their goals in having a great career. Special Projects that Dudley manages include Electric Vehicle (EV) Infrastructure, Healthcare renovations, generator and reliable backup power projects and any project that is usually involves more technical and critical management than others. With over 35 years in the construction and service industry, Dudley has been an apprentice, estimator, project manager and business owner. Like most entrepreneurs, he says he is bored easily, hates excuses and he is always looking for new innovations and ways of doing things better. Lean management and reducing waste is now one of his favorite topics when it comes to improving our environment and sustainability. Since Dudley likes new innovation and renewable energy for sustainability, his favorite project lately was designing, project managing and helping complete Dominion Energy's first Electric School Bus Program throughout the state of Virginia. It took a year but Virginia now has 50 new electric school buses on the road and soon they will have the capability to back feed the electric grid as the buses sit idle each night. For over 20 years now, Dudley has served on the Virginia Department of Labor & Industry's - Apprenticeship Council. For the past two years he has been re-appointed by Governor Northam to serve as the Apprenticeship Council's Chairperson. His expertise in apprenticeships, workforce development, construction and labor relations has led to his reappointment to several regional, state and national workforce committees. Father of two redhead daughters and a husband of 28 years, Dudley enjoys restoring old houses, boating and talking about doing big home projects one day. |
