James (Jay) R. Stecher is the chief marketing officer (CMO) for the Virginia Port Authority (VPA) and in this role he is responsible for overseeing the planning, development and execution of the organization’s marketing, communications, and branding initiatives.
Jay’s years on both the client and agency side of marketing as well as his experience as a small business owner have honed his leadership skills and his ability to take complex concepts and communicate them simply. Before arriving at The Port of Virginia, Jay oversaw the marketing and branding efforts for LifeNet Health – the world’s largest non-profit biotechnology organization. His years in advertising agencies led him to start his own agency prior to working for LifeNet Health. Jay has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware.
