Nigel J. Sutton is the VP of Business Development for General Motors Defense, LLC. He is responsible for overseeing activities on the company’s business development and capture. Prior to this position he was with Northrop Grumman & Orbital ATK as the Vice President for International Business. Nigel also has had a successful career at the Raytheon Company as an executive in charge of international business and operations.

Before joining Raytheon in 2005, Mr. Sutton was a member of the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force for 23 years where he rose to the rank of Commander and served in numerous command and staff positions in the naval aviation and procurement career fields. A U.S Naval Test Pilot School graduate in 1993, he became an aerospace engineering duty officer and has over 12 years of navy flight test, system engineering, and program management experience.

A native of Jamaica, West Indies, Mr. Sutton holds an M.S. in Aeronautical Engineering from US Naval Postgraduate School, MBA from Florida Institute of Technology, M.S. in Aviation Systems from University of Tennessee, and a B.S. in Computer Science from Park College, Missouri. While in the Navy, he was designated in the defense acquisition professional community with Level III certificates in Program Management, Flight Test, and System Engineering from the Defense Acquisition University, and a subspecialty designation in Finance.

An astronaut candidate finalist in 1995, Mr. Sutton is a committee member for the public policy; and aircraft survivability committees of the American Institute of Aerospace and Aeronautics (AIAA), and board member for the World Affairs Council of America, and previously with the Washington DC board.
