Steve Scalera is the VP of Business Development at Leonardo DRS for the Airborne & Intelligence Systems Business Area. Steve is a senior strategic business development & program executive with more than twenty five years of success in achieving revenue, profit and business growth in the defense industry.  He is recognized in the industry as a strong visionary and a successful business strategist who leverages advanced technology to solve the toughest challenges.

Prior to joining DRS, Steve worked at MIT Lincoln Laboratory where he led them in new Strategic Business Development initiatives. In his role, Steve was responsible for diversifying the customer base of the $1B business and driving the strategic focus of the laboratory to ensure maximum alignment of their R&D efforts with the most urgent and critical national security needs.

While at BAE Systems, Steve was the Senior Director of Business Development and Mission Applications for the Survivability and Targeting Solutions (STS) Business Area.  In this role, Steve was focused on delivering discriminating and innovative solutions to the warfighter to solve their mission needs.  He was responsible for strategically driving investments, captures, and customer relationships to position the
$850M business for both near and long term growth. Steve held several additional leadership roles at BAE Systems inclusive of the P&L Director of a $200M dollar organization and the Technical Director of several Advanced Technology organizations.

Steve received both his Bachelors and Master’s degrees in electrical engineering from the University of New Hampshire.  He also served with distinction on the Army Science Board (ASB) for many years.

Steve is headquartered in Washington DC Metro area where he is strategically positioned near our Nation’s geographical center of gravity for the Department of Defense and other key governmental agencies.
